Ted Baker Stores That Are Closing In August

Ted Baker Stores Closing

Ted Baker’s remaining 31 UK stores, including 9 in London, will close this week. It is understood that the closures will put more than 500 jobs at risk. The shops closing in London include those on Oxford Street, Regent Street, and Kingston Upon Thames.

Sky News reported that talks between Ted Baker’s owner, Authentic Brands, and former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group have stalled, with all stores set to close by the end of Tuesday (August 20). In March, No Ordinary Designer Label Limited (NODL), the company that owns the fashion brand’s UK stores, went bankrupt.

Since then, it has closed 15 stores in the UK, which has resulted in the layoff of roughly 245 employees. Employees at the remaining stores were informed last month that their jobs would be eliminated upon the closure of the businesses.

Before going bankrupt, Ted Baker employed about 975 people and operated 46 stores in the UK.

Before going bankrupt, Ted Baker employed about 975 people and operated 46 stores in the UK. The company behind Reebok and Juicy Couture, Authentic Brands, is headquartered in the US, and they still own Ted Baker’s intellectual property.

It sought a new business partner to oversee Ted Baker’s online and retail operations in the UK and Europe. After being founded in 1988 by Ray Kelvin and becoming well-known for its patterned and floral clothing, the closure of the UK stores may spell the end for the brand’s presence on high streets.

Nonetheless, certain department stores and retailers continue to carry the brand. For comments, Authentic Brands and Frasers Group have been contacted.
