Putin’s visit to North Korea – Important Developments After the G7 Summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to North Korea. Kim Jong-un welcomes Putin. Both countries signed an important strategic agreement.  And expressed his views against the West.

North Korea and Russia have signed a strategic partnership to strengthen trade and military ties. The purpose of this agreement is to commit to working together against international sanctions. The deal was reached during the visit of the Russian President to North Korea.

Vladimir Putin said the Silas partnership included an unspecified clause. Which will be applicable in cases of aggression against anyone in both countries. 

He said Russia can provide military-technical cooperation under the agreement.  And they also demanded the United Nations end the sanctions against North Korea. 

Putin said that the West is resorting to sanctions to maintain its hegemony.  And we will continue to oppose it.  And these illegal actions only weaken the global economic and political system.  He also thanked North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for his support of the war in Ukraine.

The two countries have been drawn closer by the mutual hostility between the US and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. 

Putin also hinted at the delivery of long-range weapons.  Kim Jong-un, in his unconditional support of Russia, said that Russia has an important role in maintaining balance and stability in the world. 

The meeting took place after Russia visited the Far East in September.  Putin also invited Kim to revisit Russia.
