The richest person in the world tends to make overly dramatic statements on social media. Stated on his platform X, That he also hoped to go into “high production” mode in 2026 to produce robots that resemble humans and sell them to other businesses.
Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and the owner of X, has previously made brave statements regarding the anticipated release date of the robot, known as Optimus, for commercial use. The billionaire, whose net worth was pegged at $250 billion (£194 billion) by Forbes in 2021, stated he anticipated the mechanoid to be operational in Tesla factories by 2022.

Optimus is intended to perform “boring, repetitious, and dangerous” tasks. It is about 1.7 meters tall and 56 kg in weight. The Transformers media franchise’s strong and kind Autobot leader, Optimus Prime, is referenced in the name.
Musk hosted an odd demonstration in 2021 during a Tesla AI Day event to introduce the humanoid robot, known as the “Tesla Bot.” The actor, dressed in a bodysuit, breakdancing to an electronic dance music soundtrack.
Elon Musk showcased a working prototype of the robot that could walk on stage and wave to the audience at another AI Day event in 2022. Musk stated that Tesla’s robot business would eventually be worth more than its cars.
Musk has previously stated that his goal is for the robots to be able to be mass-produced at a price point below $20,000.
Musk’s other projects are also behind schedule, including Optimus. He expressed his “extreme confidence” in 2019 that Tesla would have self-driving taxis operating on public roads by the next year.
Musk claimed to have asked for a change to the vehicle’s front end, so the model’s August 8 unveiling—which he had previously announced—will take longer than expected.
