For Winter 2024–2025, if you were born before September 23, 1958, you are eligible to receive a Winter Fuel Payment.
You also need to be a resident of Wales or England and have one of the following:
Pension Credit, Universal Credit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), or Income Support to get fuel payments.
You may be eligible for an annual Pension Age Winter Heating Payment if you live in Scotland.

You were born before 23 September 1958
You have a true and adequate connection to the United Kingdom; examples of this include having relatives there and having lived or worked there.
When you will not be eligible
You will not be eligible if you live in Scotland or getting free treatment in a hospital for more than a year. You need permission to enter in UK and your granted leave says that you cannot claim public funds. If visit the prison for the week from 16 to 22 September 2024.
If you live in a care home
You can get a Winter Fuel Payment in this case:
You will get certain benefits and are eligible. If you lived in a care home for less than 13 weeks including the week of 16 to 22 September 2024.
