Kyle Clifford Appeared In Court And Charged With Murder

A 26-year-old man produced an appearance in court today, where he is charged with using a crossbow to kill the wife and two daughters of BBC racing commentator John Hunt.

Kyle Clifford, of Rendlesham Road, Enfield, north London, made a remote appearance in Westminster Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday) and was charged with their murders.

Prosecutor David Burns told the court: “The front door was open when police arrived at the scene.

Near the doorway, Hannah Hunt was discovered lying down.

He informed the court that on July 9, when police arrived at the Bushey, Hertfordshire, residence, Louise Hunt, 25, had been discovered tied to a chair.

The court was informed that she and her sister Hannah, 28, had been shot with a crossbow and that their mother Carol Hunt, 61, had been stabbed with a knife and had sustained numerous injuries.

Clifford is scheduled to appear at the Royal Courts of Justice this afternoon after being placed under remand.

Although he has been in custody since July 10, police were unable to speak with him while he was in the hospital getting treatment for an injury.

Chief Magistrate, District Judge Paul Goldspring, announced, that Kyle Clifford was charged with three counts of murder, two counts of possessing offensive weapons and false imprisonment.

The full list of charges Kyle Clifford is facing was read aloud in court.

Clifford is charged with the first three counts of the July 9 murders of Hannah Hunt, Carol Hunt and Louise Hunt in Ashlyn Close, Bushey.

The 26-year-old is also charged with two counts of possessing an offensive weapon, one involving a compound crossbow and the other a 10-inch butcher’s knife.

“Assaulted and unlawfully and injuriously imprisoned Louise Hunt and detained her against her will” is the final count of false imprisonment against the defendant.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardner said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hunt family and their loved ones as they continue to process their loss.

We have been putting in a lot of effort, over the last few months to compile as much evidence as we can and determine the exact details of what transpired that day.

“We were able to charge Kyle Clifford with the murders of Carol, Hannah, and Louise Hunt today.

“Although it has taken some time to get to this point, the legal process can now proceed and their family can pursue justice.”
