Chloe Ayling is hoping that a new television program based on her abduction will encourage people to believe victims regardless of how they respond to a traumatic event.

Arriving at an address in Milan, Italy for a modeling job, the British glamour model was kidnapped in 2017 but was subsequently freed.

Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story, an upcoming six-part television series, chronicles her kidnapping, period of captivity, and the legal battle that led to the kidnappers’ imprisonment.

She hopes that the show, which premieres this week, will inspire people to not doubt victims based on how they respond to a traumatic experience, how they dress, what they do for a living, or what they did to survive.

“I hope it inspires people to look past the headlines, to not make snap judgments about a situation or story based just on what they read, to resist the pull of the media, and to maintain an open mind before drawing hasty conclusions.”

A 300,000 euro (£265,000) ransom was demanded for Ayling, who was held in a farmhouse near Turin until being freed six days later at the British Consulate in Milan.

After an Italian court found that Polish nationals Lukasz Herba and his brother Michal Herba had abducted Ayling, they were sentenced to prison.

Nevertheless, the model was accused in court of being part of a “publicity stunt” and made headlines suggesting that she had staged her ordeal.

Ayling feels that many important details, including some about the court case, were not fully disclosed at the time, and she hopes that the new drama will enable the public to see the story from her point of view.

“I think it’s crucial that people can now see all of those important details, which are based on years of in-depth research and aren’t distorted versions of the truth,” the model continued.

Kidnapped: The Untold Story Of My Abduction, written by Killing Eve coworker Georgia Lester is a series based on Ayling’s autobiography and a combination of research, interviews and court cases.

Adrian Edmondson from A Spy Among Friends and Nigel Lindsay from The Capture will co-star with domina actress Nadia Parkes as Ayling in the drama.

The model disclosed that she has watched the series on a few occasions and believes it does an excellent job of portraying her experience.

“It delivers a clear understanding of what happene, how it happened, how long it took and how I was mistreated,” the model remarked.

“I learned a few things from it that, I was unaware of from the court transcripts.”

Ayling participated in Celebrity Big Brother in 2018 after being abducted.
