Yellow Weather Warning in Several Part of UK Rain Alert

Weather Forecast for South West of England

After the Lilian Storm Disruption, a yellow weather warning was issued for several parts of the UK on Saturday that could rain up to 70mm.

The warning, which will be in place from 6 am to 1 pm, will stretch from Portsmouth, Hampshire, up to Ipswich in Suffolk.

Liam Eslick, a meteorologist at the Met Office: “We are hoping for quite a bit of rain in that south-east corner.

“15 to 30 millimeters of rain are expected to fall in a short while, but higher hills and exposed areas could receive up to 50 or 70 millimeters of rain.”

The alert is issued just before what may turn out to be the busiest August bank holiday ever for traffic.

The RAC predicts that during the weekend, 19.2 million leisure car trips will be taken.

Since the motoring services company started keeping track of data for the summer bank holiday in 2015, this is the highest.

Eslick said: “Anticipate a minor disruption in your travel plans due to the yellow alert.

I recognise that, since it’s the first bank holiday, some people may be trying to travel to their vacation destinations.

We do advise being cautious when driving on public roads. Try to stay on the main thoroughfares as much as possible. As more rural routes may have surface water. Therefore, exercise caution, when moving around on Saturday morning.

The worst of the rain is predicted to pass by mid-afternoon. But showers will continue to fall in western Scotland, central and south-east England and elsewhere.

Lilian caused significant travel disruption including delayed and canceled flights and a wind warning was in effect for northern England and north Wales until 11 am on Friday.

However, winds aren’t predicted to be too much of a problem on Saturday, according to Eslick. “The rain will be the main factor.

“Relatively mild winds are predicted for the southern region of England, with the chance of sporadic strong gusts from the English Channel. But there won’t be much on the mainland.

Conditions are predicted to improve on Sunday. Although some showers are predicted for the east, northern England and southern Scotland.

Much of the UK will experience blustery weather as the winds pick up again.

However, this won’t be as strong as the winds on Friday morning, according to the Met Office.

The best weather expected on Monday, the bank holiday.

He predicted there would be more sunshine and the winds would lessen.

“It will be nice to have that extra day this weekend to enjoy and it will be much calmer, coming into the bank holiday Monday.”
